Power Rangers was a famous television series that premiered on August 28, 1993, when I was ten years old. It was not at all difficult for me, who, like almost every child at the time, already loved the Japanese Super Sentai series, to fall in love with those superheroes that gave us a sense of identification. The fact is that the creator, Haim Saban, got it exactly right when he brought to the screen a group of superheroes, totally multifaceted, with boys and girls fighting side by side.
With a total of 29 full seasons, the series was passed from hand to hand, but never stopped occupying a warm place in the hearts of its loyal audience, both old and new fans, never let the series fall into oblivion, the actors have been changing, the stories, the villains, time as live action, time as animation Power Rangers has that perfect little cake recipe, to never stop being a phenomenon, time winning in innovation and time winning in nostalgia.
And before all this success, Netflix now decided to invest heavily and seems to be wanting to bring our favorite superheroes back to life, if you give, a peek there very that they have already acquired and put playing numerous movies and seasons of the series and the icing on the cake was a special 55-minute, which arrived at the air in April, and while it warmed our hearts with beautiful tributes to the original cast, also gave us some good, pearls that we could laugh.
Right away we have an electrifying fight between the power Rangers and a now robotic Rita Repulsed, but in a sequence without much sense, after Billy destroys part of his mask, Rita is angry and goes up to him with a force so great that ends up killing the yellow ranger, then I wondered if she has all this strength because it does not use in others, and gets more senseless when she after killing the yellow ranger goes away, so the Rangers have time to mourn for her friend who left, totally senseless this.
A year goes by, and we see the yellow ranger's daughter training with her faces and mouths while she plans to get revenge on Rita, the rangers get together to make a tribute on the day that would complete one year that the yellow ranger was gone, and then we discover our Rita's hobby, collecting figure actions, accompanied by her two new monsters Minotaur and Snizzard when she traps the red, green and pink ranger now in miniatures in her machine, and then we find out since she makes a point to explain to Billy before she gives them a hand to escape that she is draining their energy to use in her new weapon of destruction.
Seeing that there is nothing they can do, Billy and Zack run away with Minh, who, seeing the two of them discussing a plan of action to deal with the situation, insists that she also has to participate, since Rita killed her mother, boring, arrogant and spoiled, she offends Billy cruelly and without showing any empathy, thinks she has the right to steal the mofador from her mother and call herself a ranger simply because she wants to, look I do not know if the character was supposed to seem brave and determined, but for me, she was just annoying.
When Billy and Zack arrive at the command center, we see Alpha again, and that whole scene of him complementing the two would even be funny if the situation was not drastic because, in face with everything going on, they're arriving as if for an informal visit, it wasn't any sense, then we find out that Billy in a failed attempt to bring zodon back, was responsible for giving new life to Rita, who reincarnated in the body of the former Alpha, hence the robotic appearance.
In the sequence, Rita sends her lackeys to attack around the world so that she can attract more rangers and capture them for her trap, Billy and Alpha start an emergency protocol, and then we have Rock de Santos (Red Ranger) and Katherine Hillard (pink ranger), two other rangers from the past back to give some strength to the group and replace the other two that were captured, when they morph we discover that time does not forgive, neither the power rangers, and now they clearly can't anymore, wear their uniforms and their being replaced by doubles. Because it is evident that the people in the power rangers costumes are not the same actors, but what we can say about that, after all, who are we to say anything, after all, I don't fit either, but in the clothes I wore when I saw power rangers for the first time, but joking aside I think they should have put either the actors, or if they couldn't for some reason, others of similar stature in the costumes I guess because it sounded too fake.
Pause for a reference to Bulk and Skull, when alpha discovers that Rita is using the act of morphing to track and capture the ranges, then we see two other rangers from some other season of the series, but that I did not recognize and whatever appear in the middle of the confusion just to say hello and wish good luck, good when Minh, always her, tries to morph and can not is hilarious since the minions of Rita kind of find fun of her face, Uncle Zack then shows up to save the day and Minh as always acts as if the world revolved around her belly seriously my god, I even understand she does not want to follow what they want for her, after all is not what every teenager does, but she to want to go over everyone because only what she wants and what matters? It's too much for me.
When we think that she is starting to understand things and that she will take it easy, we soon see that we are totally wrong as the rangers elaborate a plan to capture Rita's monsters and thus have a free pass to get to her in her castle on the moon to try to stop her plans, our dear Minh is not happy and so the rangers assume an invisibility to surprise Rita, and they go, Minh soon gets one of the invisibility devices and get out, in the middle of the way another hilarious scene, a man of almost two meters tall stands still while his boyfriend is being attacked at a good distance from there and decides to ask for help to a girl, my God the time that this citizen was standing still, why and that he was not was towards him boyfriend to help?
Well, Super Minh saves the day and flies out of there, to go for almost everything to lose by giving a karate kid to Rita Repulse, my God, where did they get this girl from, in a more than predictable outcome, she is captured by Rita who takes her hostage to her palace on the moon, but the Rangers arrive first and conclude that Rita, in a midlife crisis, besides collecting figure actions is also creating a kind of time machine aiming to have a revival with her younger version, and try to prevent the creation of the rangers, it's hilarious.
A fight ensues and Minh, in her obsession with being a hero, throws herself into the crossfire to save Billy's life as her mother did, she almost dies in the process and everyone stops around her worried and Rita, once again showing to be a villain with good heart, misses the opportunity to annihilate all of them right there and waits for them to mourn, and this moment we have a flashback with a simple tribute to the old times to warm our hearts, and behold, the magic finally happens and Minh transforms into a ranger, we see if now she stops bothering us.
They then get into a life or death confrontation with Rita and all her evil helpers, when Rita turns Snizzard into a giant monster, the rangers take advantage of her distraction and shut her down momentarily while they evoke the Megazod to deal with the giant monster and there are another drop of nostalgia for us fans, the fight then ensues with the rangers destroying Minotaur and joining Billy and Minh, to deal with Snizzard.
Meanwhile, Rita wakes up and is about to accomplish her intention when she is finally stopped by Snizzard's death and by the fast action of the Rangers that return after winning to stop her, and once again the world was saved and the hegemony of the Power Rangers guaranteed, they then return to earth, and when they hear from the other space rangers that all the ones that had been imprisoned by Rita are now recovering, they celebrate and say goodbye, in the sequence we see Minh and Billy finally getting along, and she makes it clear that she hasn't changed a bit, well, that's what we want to see from the new rangers, arrogant and proud like Minh, this must be the face of the new generation heroes, at least for Netflix, ok she even tries to apologize to Billy for the way she treated him before the mess, but only to the next second when she is questioned about taking his car without asking her to say that no one can order her, then they keep rambling about the morphed supposedly containing memories and how this could mean a way to bring Zordon back, a hook for something future, who knows?
